Gympie leagues night of nights

IT’S only a matter of weeks before Gympie’s rugby league community celebrates 100 impressive years of the sport steeped in history.

Gympie Cooloola Rugby League is organising a 100 years of League in Gympie celebratory dinner, to be held at the Gympie Civic Centre on later this month.

While a trip down memory lane, the night is also packing plenty of star power with Artie Beetson and Tommy Raudonikis appearing as part of the touring Birth of Origin Show.

Both are the original State of Origin captains and have been extensively decorated as some of Australia’s finest footballers in history.

The big night takes place on June 25 from 6pm and with tickets not available at the door, they must be purchased in advanced from Harcourts Real Estate in Mary Street.

Meanwhile, the day following, the celebrations continue with Gympie’s Super Saturday of Rugby League, incorporating the televised QCup game at 2pm live on ABC television between City and Country.

An entry fee of $6 will apply for those wanting to pack the stands.
