Gympie to host outdoor recreation forum
A FORUM to be held near Gympie tomorrow night aims to unlock the potential for outdoor recreation opportunities in the Gympie region.
Hosted by the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation, at the Boulder Creek Holiday Centre at Mothar Mountain, the free forum will help shape the future of outdoor recreation in this region.
QORF executive officer and forum chairman Murray Stewart, who owned and operated the outdoor rec centre Garapine before it was purchased in the Traveston dam buy-up, said it was a great opportunity for everyone with an interest in outdoor recreation to get together and share ideas on the future of outdoor recreation in the Gympie area.
"Whether you're a mountain biker or horse rider, a bushwalker or a kayaker, we would encourage everyone who enjoys outdoor recreation to come along and share their views," Mr Stewart said.
"This is a great opportunity for everyone to catch up on the latest news and happenings with the wider outdoor recreation community, and to join in the discussion on how outdoor recreation could unlock the potential of the region.
"Adventure tourism is on the rise and that means people who engage in activities like mountain biking, horse riding, four wheel driving or water sports are on the lookout for new experiences.
"There is so much opportunity in our region to tap into the benefits that outdoor recreation offers, and we encourage everyone to attend the forum and have their say."
The forum will include representatives from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, State Government Sport and Recreation Services, the council, sport and recreation groups and the broader outdoor recreation community.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to attend.
