Gympie hospital rates well

THE Australian Medical Association’s new Your Hospital website has revealed Gympie Hospital has one of the lowest bed occupancy rates in Queensland at 78.6 per cent.

AMA Queensland president Dr Mason Stevenson said that other hospitals, like Nambour at 99.6 per cent, are putting patients at higher risk of death and disability.

Waiting times to get into the Gympie Emergency Department are around three-and-a-half hours, while Nambour Hospital, where at least one patient from Gympie is transferred everyday and three a day on weekends, had a seven hour wait. Visit www.yourhospital.com.au.
