Gympie has cheapest Qld ULP
GYMPIE motorists enjoyed some Christmas cheer at the bowser, with the cheapest unleaded petrol in the state.
The RACQ's monthly fuel report has shown that Gympie's average price of 151.7 cents per litre in December was the lowest in Queensland.
RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith said Gympie had pipped its Sunshine Coast neighbours for the cheap fuel title.
"The Sunshine Coast had previously recorded the cheapest fuel in the state for four consecutive months, but in December Gympie nudged in front with unleaded 0.1cpl cheaper," Ms Smith said.
"In comparison to other parts of the state, Gympie's ULP was 3cpl less than the average in Brisbane, 2.2cpl cheaper than the Gold Coast, and 2cpl less than Hervey Bay.
"In Brisbane, the December unleaded average of 154.7cpl was the highest monthly average the city has recorded."
Ms Smith said despite cheaper prices in Gympie, motorists wanting to get the best deals should take the time to shop around.
"Motorists seeking cheap prices can check the RACQ website, with our Fair Fuel Price service showing how much you should be paying at the bowser," she said.
The 2013 annual fuel report will be released later this month and the next monthly fuel report will be available early February.
