Gympie Girl Guides join in Jamboree of the Air

GYMPIE Girl Guides' Ranger Guide unit, 11 to 16-year-olds, recently visited Cooloola Berries to learn about the process of growing strawberries.

We also picked our own, and tasted a few along the way.

The farm dog Bella was also a big hit, as were the ducklings.

Many of our girls also joined in Jamboree Of The Air on Saturday, October 15.

This is a worldwide activity open to Girl Guides and Scouts.

We brought our own devices and met at Gympie Library to make use of the wifi. Through a special chat room as well as Skype, girls spoke to other participants in Portugal, Brazil, UK, USA, Canada, Tanzania, Serbia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and many others.

It was an amazing opportunity to find out about life in other countries and make acquaintances who maybe one day we will meet face to face.
