Gympie gets green light for Toyota dealership
GYMPIE will be home to the newest Toyota dealership in the state when John Madill has finished construction at new premises along the Bruce Highway at Monkland.
A 16-service bay, five-car showroom dealership is expected to house 75 display vehicles that bear the badge of the number one car in the region.
Gympie Regional Council at their general meeting on Wednesday gave the tick of approval to Madill's to build the dealership, at the site squared-off between Brisbane Rd, the Bruce Hwy and Geordie Rd.
The site, which currently sits vacant next door to the Monkland Caltex service station, was purchased in 2010 after plans for another site on the Bruce Hwy were squashed.
Owner John Madill said the new site would provide the long-awaited expansion their dealership on Station Rd needed.
He said the operations at Station Rd would be grown and moved to the new site, however he wasn't sure what would be done with the old facilities yet.
"We'll make a decision on that next year."
Mr Madill said now the development had received the nod from the council, he would begin liaising with local builders and tradies to get the project off the ground "as soon as possible".
