Solomon Islands team visit Gympie

A VISTING Solomon Islands youth football team will be in Gympie Monday evening challenging a Gympie representative team.

Football Gympie secretary Pam Tindall confirmed details of the visit late yesterday afternoon.

“The Solomon Islands youth team is on the Sunshine Coast and they have decided to come to Gympie for a game,” she said.

The visitors will be playing a Gympie team comprised of Under 19 players hopeful of making selection for the Gympie Under 19 Fire team for the Queensland Youth League next year.

Tindall said the game was a great opportunity for players seeking selection in the elite squad to start proving their worth.

“The game will allow the players to start showing what they are capable of ahead of selection trials,” she said.

The game kicks off on Field 1 at the One Mile Ovals Monday evening at 6pm.
