'Gympie-centric council' under fire in this letter

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Land values drop at Cooloola Cove while rates go up

CONGRATULATIONS Gympie Regional Council.

Have noticed the use of Cooloola Cove ratepayers rate money: trees being planted around a complex that already had trees planted when they built it, a footpath that will be used by youths that walk home after midnight, yelling, swearing and fighting.

Once again you don't look after the ratepayers, do you?

We have many that walk these streets without footpaths, even mobility scooters and bikes that try and go along the rough street edge.

It only took about 12 years to get the one on Nautilus Dr.

When will the council realise that most of your ratepayers out in Cooloola Cove are elderly and need the infrastructure where they live, not in main Gympie City?

How many would access the new aquatic centre?

I don't even know where it is and see all the so-called improvements to Gympie.

Has the saying "a silk purse out of a sows ear” come to mind? And the saying for Cooloola Cove? The golden goose.

These last rates came before the land value letter. We had a rate increase and the values had dropped.

(Disappointed ratepayer) Jan Patzwald,

Cooloola Cove.
