Gympie BMX riders prep for champs
ATTENDING the Caboolture Snake Pit Challenge at the weekend has been the ideal preparation for Gympie BMX riders ahead of the Queensland Championships later this month.
An impressive 373 riders converged on Caboolture for the BMX event Saturday, including a strong contingent of professional riders.
While junior BMX riders competed hard in their events, they also enjoyed the opportunity to get up close and personal with their idols.
Happily signing autographs and handing out a few tricks of the trade, the professional riders helped inspire a new generation of stars.
The Gympie BMX Club performed strongly at the event, claiming brilliant results in all 20 inch, 23 inch cruiser and 4x mountain bike events.
Gympie riders used the Caboolture outing as an opportunity to finetune their form ahead of the Queensland Championships in McKay in three weeks.
Keen to represent the club and the entire Gympie region, the Queensland Championships boast some of the most exceptional BMX talent the state has to offer.
Meanwhile, the Gympie BMX Club is encouraging anyone considering the sport to jump in and give it a go.
The club races every Friday night from 7pm at the track behind the One Mile Ovals.
Young children through to adult participants are welcome to take up the challenge.
