In order to qualify for state competition, Braganza struck success at the Regional Championships in Brisbane on May 23.

In that competition, he achieved a first in floor and vault and a third on rings and high bars.

Cleary qualified at Moreton Bay College on May 9, receiving the second highest score on vault, fifth highest on floor and sixth overall at the Regional Championships on May 30.

Helping to prepare the pair is Gympie Gymnastics head coach Elissa Lyon and Adam Bowman. Bowman is lending his assistance to Braganza while Lyon is attending to Cleary.

Beyond the success of qualifying for the state competition, Braganza and Cleary are achieving many other great things with the Gympie Gymnastics Club.

Braganza is undertaking a traineeship at the Gympie club, undertaking a Certificate II in Sports Coaching. He has trained with the club for four years.

Cleary, a Year 10 student at St Patrick’s College, is sinking her teeth into coaching the next generation of gymnasts by commencing as a beginner girls’ coach with the Gympie Gymnastics Club.

Regardless of the outcome in Brisbane later this month, the experience will be invaluable.
