Gretta among new recruits on the beat

GYMPIE girl Gretta Wilson was one of 83 new recruits congratulated by Police Minister Jack Dempsey after being sworn in at the Queensland Police Service Academy in Oxley yesterday.

The newly sworn-in first year constables were congratulated at the ceremony by Member for Yeerongpilly and former police officer Carl Judge on behalf of Mr Dempsey.

Mr Dempsey wished the recruits and police dogs well in their careers as they prepared to settle into Queensland communities.

"These 83 new officers will bring a wealth of experience, life skills and enthusiasm to the QPS and the regions they serve," he said.

"It is an honour to be selected as a police recruit and a significant achievement to graduate from the 30-week Police Recruit Operational Vocational Education program.

"I congratulate these officers on completing their training and I thank them for their commitment to protecting Queenslanders."
