‘Great Scott' is back in Gympie
GYMPIE tennis ace Christy Scott has returned from her stint at the Australian tennis titles in Toowoomba.
Scott and her Queensland teammates came second, getting pipped by New South Wales by two points.
Scott was knocked out in the third round by a Victorian player but made her way into the consolation final.
In that match she lost to her Queensland captain 8-5.
Scott ended up finishing 10th overall out of a group of 56 girls.
She said it was a pretty good effort considering the standard of tennis players at the titles.
Many of the girls were in the top 50 in Australia for open women's tennis.
The teams had to play 18 matches for the week including six singles matches, two girls' doubles, two boys' doubles and two mixed doubles, as well as the individual matches.
Each team had eight girls and eight boys.
Other states represented were New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and the ACT.
