Grandparents are special people

GRANDPARENTS from as far away as Mt Tamborine in the Gold Coast hinterland travelled to Gympie for Alma Street Pre-Prep's Grandparents' Morning this week.

The morning, repeated for each of the childcare centre's four groups, sought to celebrate family and the role grandparents play in the upbringing of children.

"It's an annual event and it was a real success," Alma Street Pre-Prep co-director Lisa Gilmore said.

"We encouraged the children to share their home life and we had a morning tea, sung songs and played games.

"We want the community to come together and value family and grandparents."

About 50 people were in attendance for yesterday morning's Grandparents' Morning celebration.
