Goomeri Angus stud makes for a clean sweep at Show
GOOMERI district grazier Glen Perrett is a proud man after his entries made a clean sweep of everything they were entered in the Angus championships at the Gympie Show Stud Cattle Ring yesterday.
But if there is anyone more proud, it is Chloe Gould, also of the Glenrae Pastoral Company Bowenfels Angus operation, near Goomeri.
"We won all the Angus championships," she said after judging yesterday.
"That’s the junior champion female and bull and the senior champion female and bull," she explained.
"A lot of it is thanks to Glen," she said. "And he’s been a supporter of the Show for a long time."
The Bowenfels’ big day out was very nearly a clean sweep of the whole breed, taking out first and second for Bull under 12 months, with Myown Angus in third.
Myown Angus also took first in Bull 12 to 16 months, a rare loss for Glenrae-Bowenfels, who took first in Bull 16 months to 20 month, as well as Junior Champion Bull. Bull 20 months to 24 months, and every other award except Female 12 months to 16 months, which also went to Myown Angus.
In Female Under 12 months, Glenrae took first and second, followed by Myown Angus in third.
The rivalry with Myown Angus showed again when Myown came second to Glenrae in the Class 36 Exhibitors group.
