Good and bad news for NSW Blues

THERE was good news and bad news for the NSW Blues following on from the Knights 34-14 thumping of the Panthers on Monday night.

Four key Origin players picked up injuries in the game at Hunter Stadium.

Kurt Gidley suffered a re-occurence of his shoulder problem and is set to miss the rest of the season, while Luke Lewis also went down with a shoulder complaint.

Gidley was taken to hospital on Monday night and will most likely require surgery.

If that was not enough, hooker Danny Buderus' troublesome Achilles flared up and centre Michael Jennings landed awkwardly on his neck.

Buderus had to leave the field late in the first half and is not sure when he will play his next game.

The 34-year-old had completed just one training session since the Knights' round seven loss to the Dragons and also ruled himself out of last month's City v Country representative fixture.

Jennings left the field in the 60th minute after he pinched a nerve in his neck when he attempted to score a try from a high kick.

He said his injury got better through time.

Both he and Lewis have been cleared to play the Storm this weekend.
