Golinski girls laid to rest

THE family of celebrity chef Matt Golinski has been farewelled almost three months after the deadly fire at their Tewantin home.

Matt, 39, is still recovering in hospital in Brisbane after suffering extensive burns in the Boxing Day blaze and was unable to attend the funeral service at Tewantin.

The ceremony was recorded for him to watch later.

The fire claimed the lives of Matt's wife Rachel Golinski and the couple's three daughters - Sage and Willow, both 12, and Starlia, 10.

The Drysdale Funerals chapel was opened for three and a half hours on Sunday morning for friends to mourn the loss of the family.

Those paying their respects laid flowers and said their goodbyes to a family taken too soon.

Police said fire investigators had checked Christmas lights and candles, while other factors had been ruled out, such as the gas bottles which were still intact.
