Gold XI on road to grand final
It is crucial that the Stirling Homes Gympie Gold XI wins its last two games of the Sunshine Coast A-grade season to make the one-day grand final.
The Gold will play Tewantin Noosa at Albert Park on Saturday in its penultimate match of the season and last home game before Christmas.
The Gympie A-grade side took a lighter approach to training this week as they were still feeling the after effects of last weekend's double header against some of the top teams in the competition.
Captain Kaden Dickfos said there were still a few sore bodies but everyone was ready to go this week.
"It takes a bit of a toll," he said.
Brycen Mitchell, who put on a top bowling performance in last Sunday's match against Glasshouse, will be absent this week, with Max Carlton filling his position.
Anthony Reid is also unavailable today but Ashley Sippel will return to the pitch after representing Gympie in the Goodchild Shield last Sunday.
Dickfos said Noosa has been doing well in the one-day games this season and Gympie will not be taking the match lightly despite sitting in second place.
"We want to get ourselves in a good position and see where we go from there," he said.
Only the top two teams will compete in the final in January.
