Gold XI off and running hard

AN impressive 66 run haul from Gympie Offroad Gold XI batsman Steven Brady has helped the side to a strong start against Maroochydore at the weekend.

The Gold travelled away for the first day of the two day encounter and batted first, making a robust 217.

With limited time remaining in the day, Maroochydore was sent in to bat and got its run chase underway, making 25 with the loss of a single wicket.

Brady was the stand-out performer for the Gold, fearlessly staring down Maroochydore’s bowling attack.

The Gold’s run rate received a further boost following a number of Gympie batsman hitting double figures.

The Gold’s performance ensures Maroochydore will need to be at their best next weekend to claim first innings points.

Last time the sides met at Albert Park, the result was a draw decided on the last ball.
