Gold medal for Rebecca

GYMPIE tenpin bowling ace Rebecca King has won a gold medal at the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles.

Miss King was competing in the team event and her win was announced on social media by friends and family yesterday.

Miss King is competing at the games with 6500 other athletes and 2000 coaches representing 165 countries.

The 2015 Special Olympics World Games features 25 Olympic-style sports in venues throughout the Los Angeles region.

The Opening Ceremony was held on July 25 in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, site of the 1932 and 1984 Olympic Games, and attended by 80,000 people.
