High tides flood Coast beaches
GOLD Coast roads along the coastline have flash flooded after a king tide came through the area this morning.
Parts of Land's End, Budd's Beach and Labrador were underwater as the unusually high tide came through just after 9am this morning.
Roads off the Esplanade at Budd's Beach were under at least 50cm of water at its deepest points, causing lengthy delays to traffic.
But not all road users slowed down with the extra water, with some cars driving through at higher speeds.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Aditi Sharan said the king tide reached heights up to 1.9m and would reach 1.22m tonight.
"It's due to the gravitational pull of the moon, it causes low and high tides," she said.
She said Brisbane had recorded a very high tide of 2.75m.
Tomorrow the tide will reach 1.87m at 9.59am and 1.19m at 10.22pm.
