FLIGHTS to the Gold Coast were diverted this morning due to poor visibility on the approach to the airport.

According to a Gold Coast Airport spokeswoman, six flights were diverted to Brisbane.

"We encourage people who are planning to fly in or out of the Gold Coast airport to ring their airlines for the latest updates on flights," the spokeswoman said.

Two Jetstar flights were diverted. The flights were from Perth and Aukland.

A Jetstar spokeswoman said passengers were taken between airports by bus.

Two Virgin flights were diverted. The flights were from Melbourne and Sydney.
