Gold, All Stars clash ready to go

THE Gympie Offroad Gold XI cricket side will not have it easy taking on a composite All Stars team this weekend at Albert Park in a titanic Twenty20 battle.

The All Stars outfit, captained by Neil McKean, is comprised of the best Gympie A grade cricket players drawn from the four sides in the local competition.

It's the second year the sides have met and for the Gold, it's a chance to defend their crown after easily overcoming the All Stars outfit last year.

But the All Stars have a trick up their sleeve this year in the game due to be played under lights.

Joining the side to bolster its numbers are Sunshine Coast Scorchers representatives Josh Brady, Lewis Waugh and Kaden Dickfos.

The three additions to the team are enough to make the Gold stand up and take notice as each Scorchers representative has previously played for the Gold.

The game will get underway at 7pm this Saturday evening, with full bar and canteen facilities available.

This year, there will be a twist with a man of the match honours up for grabs along with prizes for members of the crowd able to bag a six from the stands.

Novelty events with prizes will also be available for children keen on testing their cricket skills.
