Glass House MP accused of ‘misleading’ parliament

THREE state MPs could face the Queensland Parliament's Ethics Committee.

Treasurer Curtis Pitt has questioned the conduct of Glass House MP Andrew Powell and the Attorney-General wants two LNP MPs investigated for "deliberately misleading" Parliament.

Mr Pitt said he would write to Speaker Peter Wellington about Mr Powell over a "very serious allegation" and Yvette D'Ath wants Ian Walker and Scott Emerson to face the committee.

"During his question, the member raised a very serious allegation that I'd failed to declare a donation of $5000," Mr Pitt told Parliament.

"As the member must surely have known, a gift would have been declared on the ALP's donation return."

Meanwhile, Ms D'Ath referred Mr Walker and Mr Emerson to the committee after fielding questions about a $10,000 CEPU Plumbing Division donation that was not declared in Ms D'Ath's Redcliffe by-election return.

The donation was disclosed in an ALP return.

Ms D'Ath accused Mr Walker of "deliberately misleading the House".

She blasted Mr Emerson, the Indooroopilly MP, for being "deliberately misleading" after the LNP member asked her: "I refer to the Attorney-General's Redcliffe by-election declaration in which she declared she received $29,030 as a salary package from the AWU (Australian Workers Union). Given the AWU has not declared this in its own return, can the Attorney advise what investigations are underway?"

"As the member must have known that there was no return yet uploaded for the AWU on the ECQ (Electoral Commission Queensland) website, he must have known that statement was not true," Ms D'Ath said.
