German tourists escape vehicle fire on Fraser Island

TWO German tourists escaped without injury after their four-wheel drive caught on fire on Fraser Island on Thursday, March 26.

A police representative said it was suspected the cause of the fire was a fuel line leaking onto the exhaust pipe.

The incident happened on Wanggoolba Creek-Eurong Rd, about 6km from Creek Barge landing, as the tourists were travelling west to Eurong about 11am.

The representative said Eurong Rural Fire Service was able extinguish the blaze and prevent nearby bush from catching alight.
