Gaynor hints at challenging Perrett at federal election
THE OUTSPOKEN former Katter's Australian Party Senate candidate Bernard Gaynor may challenge Labor MP Graham Perrett at the federal election.
While Mr Gaynor said he was in discussions with five different political parties to run for the Senate, he also said an "attractive option" was targeting the seat of Moreton.
"I can confirm that I have been offered the primary senate spot on a number of tickets, including in parties that have already endorsed candidates," Mr Gaynor said.
"Another attractive option is to campaign against Graham Perrett in the seat of Moreton."
After the 2010 election which saw Mr Perrett lose more than 12% of his majority to the LNP.
Mr Gaynor, who has been vocal in his opposition to gay marriage, said Mr Perrett was hypocritical as he was a practising Catholic and supported gay marriage.
"It would be good to play a role in any plan to remove Graham Perrett from Federal Parliament," Mr Gaynor said.
Mr Perrett was contacted for comment prior to filing this story.
