Gas leak forces evacuations

A RUPTURED gas pipe forced businesses to evacuate and streets to close in South Brisbane.

About 100 workers, from businesses, including the ABC studios and the Brisbane Eye tourist attraction, were evacuated after emergency services received reports of a suspected gas leak just before 8am on Wednesday.

Grey Street was closed between Glenelg and Melbourne streets, affecting pedestrians and motorists until they were reopened about an hour later.

No one was injured during the incident.
