Gareth Bale puts the boot into England

GARETH Bale has continued the mind games ahead of tomorrow night’s crucial Euro 2016 clash with England in Lens.

The Welsh leads Group B after a 2-1 opening win over Slovakia and are hopeful of a first victory over rival England since 1984.

Bale has been outspoken about Roy Hodgson’s team ahead of the game, saying the Welsh played with more passion and also had the team that would more than match their British counterpart.

“We know we’re a good team and know we can beat them on our day,” the Real Madrid star said.

“I’m not saying England don’t have pride or passion, I’m sure they do.

“I just feel that we have more. I’m sure they have their opinion that they have more also.

“I just feel, whether it’s football, rugby or whatever sport it is, in Wales we seem to have that next level.”

Asked how many England players would get into the Wales line-up, Bale said with a big smile on his face: “None.”

The last time the teams met was in a Euro 2012 qualifier at Wembley which England won 1-0.

Bale, 26, said the Welsh had improved since that match.

“We know they’re a bigger nation with more players to choose from but we’ve closed the gap massively,” he said.

“We know they’re a good team and, I’m sure if they put in a good performance, they’ll feel they can beat us and we’re exactly the same.

“If we work well as a team, we feel we can win.”

England midfielder Adam Lallana, who played with Bale in Southampton’s youth team, said his side had plenty of attacking options which Wales would be worried about.

“I think they’ll definitely be thinking about that,” said the Liverpool player.

“Anyone would who is playing against us and looking at our team - not just our team but our squad.

“There are attacking players on the bench we can use and there are great options there.”

“It’s definitely one of the best England squads I’ve been involved in, so if someone is having a bad day, or there are injuries or suspensions, we’ve got options in abundance to come in and keep the standards high.”
