9.05AM: A MAN is dead after a fiery collision with a police car on Tanby Rd this morning.

The driver of the other vehicle was reportedly bleeding from the neck as all emergency services arrived on scene about 7.52am.

The forensic crash unit is investigating, and police are the lead agency following the matter.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said they managed to contain the fire by 8.45am, almost an hour after it broke out.

 

"It hasn't spread to a nearby property or grass," a spokesman said.

"The fire was reported out just before 8.50am."

Further details of the man who died are unavailable at this time.

The crash occurred about 50m east of the Whitely Rd turnoff, and the QFES report no fuel leaks.

The Queensland Police Service said the vehicles were off the road, and they were still trying to ascertain the circumstances around the crash.

Police remain on scene, but it is understood traffic is flowing.

The Queensland Ambulance Service attended and a police officer was transported to the Rockhampton Hospital for injuries sustained during the crash.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads advise Emu Park Rd is closed by the Whitely Rd turnoff due to the accident. 

A member of the public advised drivers must go through Cawarral to get to and from Emu Park.

8.05AM: PARAMEDICS are rushing to help a man hurt in a serious two-vehicle crash at Tanby Rd and Emu Park Rd, Coorooman.

Initial reports indicate the man is bleeding from a cut to the neck, however the Queensland Ambulance Service are not yet on scene.

A QAS spokesman said they received the call at 7.52am.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said they received reports of a car on fire, but have not arrived.

The crash is reported to have happened about 2km from the Emu Park turnoff on Tanby Rd.

Emergency services are reportedly responding to a separate accident on Yeppoon Rd, Ironpot about 2km west of the Oaks service station.
