Funky new dance school
LONG standing dance company Ausfunk has taken local talented dancer/gymnast to new levels in the dance styles of hip hop and funk.
After extensive training, Natalia Carey is now able to offer Gympie dancers a school with a focus on modern dance techniques and teaching methods.
Miss Carey is opening Ausfunk's sixth studio in the Gympie Gymnastic Centre.
While different from traditional schools of exams and eisteddfods, Ausfunk has a focus on public performances for local events, fetes and festivals.
With five other studios on the Sunshine Coast, another major focus for students is the combined concert for Ausfunk's annual party extravaganza.
Ausfunk director Hayley Green said the dance schools were established in response to tougher economic times, costing students one low fee structure which included all costumes, insurance and access to Ausfunk multi media resources.
Ausfunk prides itself on relating to the students by using social media facilities such as Youtube and Facebook as well as their website to help practice and gain confidence.
"Ausfunk has a policy of providing a safe, nurturing school focused on gaining confidence and building students' self esteem while they have a great time in dance," Ms Green said.
Open day is this Saturday, November 19, from 9am in the Gympie Gymnastic Club Centre at 32 Everson Rd, Gympie.
Boys and girls of all ages are welcome. Multiple instructors will be available on the day to separate age groups. Cost of open day is $10 each.
