Funds trigger levee work

GYMPIE'S flood mitigation works are starting to ramp up with council entering into a contract with consulting engineers Aurecon this week for the pre-design phase of the Gympie flood levee and the design of Drummond Dr and Penny Rd at Glanmire.

Mayor Ron Dyne said the pre-design phase of the levee would use funds provided by the State Government and would involve a range of assessments and investigations.

Following the awarding of $5.2 million in flood mitigation funding, we are moving forward with works required for the levee and the Monkland Glanmire access improvements, Cr Dyne said.
