Friends fearful for missing 'Jacko'

GYMPIE and Sunshine Coast police are seeking help in solving the disappearance of popular Gympie Muster volunteer Mark (Jacko) Jackson, who is said to have disappeared from his near-Nambour home last month.

Curra resident David Lillico told The Gympie Times yesterday that Mr Jackson was a Muster regular, as a patron and volunteer and was also well known as a regular Inskip Point camper.

Mr Lillico said the disappearance was uncharacteristic of Mr Jackson, who had worked at the same Beerwah business, the Big Mower, for 20 years or more.

"He's a creature of habit. He is due to turn 50 this year, in April," he said.

"It's just so strange. We're all at a loss," Mr Lillico said.

"He hasn't been seen since January 22.

"He got home about 8pm after working overtime on a neighbour's mower and when the neighbour went to work at 5.30 the next morning, Mark's car was gone.

"And that's the last anyone knows.

"He lived at the Sunshine Coast, on the Nambour-Maroochydore Rd, but he has a lot of friends up here.

"His bank accounts haven't been touched and he's had no contact with any of his many friends.

"He hasn't been answering calls or text messages".

Mr Lillico asked if Mr Jackson could contact a friend or Gympie police to let people know he is okay and that anyone with any knowledge of his whereabouts or any information about him to contact Gympie police on 54801111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
