Friendly rivalry in stud ring

AN ONGOING friendly rivalry between two Gympie stud cattle breeding families played out once again in the Brangus judging at the Gympie Show on Thursday.

Delighted owner of the Supreme Brangus Female Exhibit, Graham Engeman, could not wait to tell everyone how his heifer, Yabbado Grace, had pipped the Stephen Duff bred Supreme Brangus Bull, Duff Glentana, to take out the Supreme Brangus Exhibit in the stud cattle judging.

"I think the judges made a very very wise choice," a chuffed Mr Engeman quipped on Thursday afternoon.

The cattle were judged by noted Roma breeder Ian Galloway.

Mr Duff, the chief stud cattle steward, and Mr Engeman have for the past six years enjoyed a $1 wager on who would come out best in the Brangus judging at the Gympie Show.

Mr Engeman went home a dollar richer on Thursday night.
