TONY ABBOTT'S daughter Frances has taken to social media to announce she is apparently engaged to a man she has been dating for only two weeks.

The fitness fanatic posted candid photo-booth snaps of her new beau to her Instagram account on Sunday night.

Abbott, 26, publicly told her almost 8000 followers that: "Two weeks was all it took to know that forever with you was a mighty fine idea."

The fitness model and gay marriage advocate has introduced her followers to her fiance, Sam Loch, a former Olympic rower turned weightlifter.

The 34-year-old competed in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

But surprisingly, there has been no picture of a ring.

Abbott described Loch as her "Feyonce", and hashtagged the post with #engaged #crazyinlove #helikeditsoheputaringonit #whywait #letsdothis.

Her followers have commented on the post, expressing their support.

"Two of the happiest people on the planet ... and it shows! Completely thrilled for you both and wish you all the happiness that you deserve!" one said.

But the news was so sudden it caught at least one family member by surprise last night.

Abbott's aunt Christine Forster had no idea of the engagement until told by Confidential.
