Foxes keen to get Vardy firing again

FOOTBALL: Leicester City is attempting to fine-tune the way it loads up its "cannon", sharpshooter Jamie Vardy, in a bid to get him back firing in front of goal.

The England striker has scored just once in the English Premier League this season following his breakout 2015-16 when he slammed in 24 as the Foxes claimed a fairytale title.

The reigning champions take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight with only two wins from seven games to their name.

Manager Claudio Ranieri said: "Opponents now know Jamie very well. They know that if they leave space behind for him to run into that he can kill you.

"We have to try and surprise them in a different way."

Ranieri revealed Leicester had been running "special" training sessions with Vardy and teammates Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani to try to form an effective partnership.

"We have three of them working together in our sessions. We always play them together so they can link up together better. I believe in these three guys," Ranieri said.

Danny Drinkwater will face a late fitness test to make Leicester's team for the trip to Chelsea after pulling out of England's squad this week with a groin injury.

Chelsea goes into tonight's clash with four wins, and is set to regain skipper John Terry after he returned to full training after a month out with an ankle injury.

The Blues are also on a high after sealing a kit sponsorship contract with Nike believed to be worth $1.34 billion over 15 years, the biggest in the club's history.

Tonight: Chelsea v Leicester City 9.30pm; Arsenal v Swansea City, West Brom v Tottenham, Stoke City v Sunderland, Bournemouth v Hull City, Man City v Everton midnight. Tomorrow: Crystal Palace v West Ham 2.30am; Middlesbrough v Watford 10.30pm. Monday: Southampton v Burnley 1am (times AEST).
