Forum held to gauge river's future

THE future of the Mary River was discussed at length during a Caring for Mary public forum in Gympie last week.

It was one of a series of forums that will directly influence the Mary River Threatened Species Recovery Plan, spearheaded by MRCCC.

The forum headed south to Kenilworth this week and closer to the river's source at Maleny on Friday.

"The threatened species recovery plan is the first of its kind in Australia to focus on a river," MRCCC's Dr Tanzi Smith said.

"We are identifying actions to improve the overall health of the Mary and recover the populations of our iconic threatened species," he said.
