Manly's Kieran Foran to captain New Zealand tonight
RUGBY LEAGUE: Manly star Kieran Foran (pictured) will captain New Zealand for just the second time when the Kiwis take on PNG in their final World Cup group game tonight.
Regular skipper Simon Mannering and fellow forwards Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Frank Pritchard have been rested, while centre Krisnan Inu has been left out of the team that beat France 48-0 a week ago.
Coach Stephen Kearney has recalled Josh Hoffman, Dean Whare, Manu Vatuvei and Sonny Bill Williams, with playmaker Thomas Leuluai (groin) the only squad member unavailable.
"Right across the whole group, the pressure to perform is there because guys like Jason Nightingale, Kevin Locke and Krisnan Inu are waiting for an opportunity," Kearney said.
Meanwhile Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens has decided to rest star players Greg Inglis (knee) and Matt Scott (finger) for tomorrow night's match against Ireland, while Johnathan Thurston and Darius Boyd will also sit out the team's final group game.
Billy Slater returns to fullback, Paul Gallen moves into the front-row and Daly Cherry-Evans will partner Cooper Cronk in the halves.
