Football Gympie to host state comp

FOOTBALL Gympie's new season is yet to get underway, but already the club is busily preparing for the biggest event on the season's calendar.

Football Gympie president Trevor Kirk said early July would be packed full of action.

The club is poised to host four state titles simultaneously in what is a perfect opportunity to reveal its new facilities and playing surfaces.

All that remains before the events can get underway is official approval at Football Gympie's next meeting.

The state titles to be played in Gympie include the Under 13 Peter Cox Cup together with a host of other carnivals for Under 12, 13, 14 and 15 players.

“There will be 19 teams and about 400 players,” Kirk said.

Accommodation is a small worry for Football Gympie at the moment with the Boulder Creek Holiday Centre at Mothar Mountain already booked out. The hunt is now on for an alternative.

Meanwhile, Football Gympie's sign-on dates are February 6 and 13 at the clubhouse at the One Mile Ovals.
