Foggy start to fine day around the Sunshine Coast

THE Gympie region and most of south-east Queensland was shrouded in a thick blanket of fog until mid morning yesterday, caused by ground moisture left by the rainfall of Tuesday and Wednesday (and possibly some Queensland tears following Wednesday night's State of Origin).

The fog extended as far north as Hughenden, inland from Townsville, and west to Birdsville, near the New South Wales and Northern Territory borders.

The region can look forward to some more classic winter weather over the next few days, with cooler mornings - getting down to about 8 degrees - and mostly sunny days.
