Flood strands Tamworth musos

A GROUP of 16 people - part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival's Gympie contingent - is stranded at Stanthorpe waiting for floodwater to recede.

A handful of young musicians from the Australian Institute of Country Music, and their supporters and teachers, was returning home when informed of road closures between Warwick and Brisbane.

The group is waiting it out at the Top of the Town Tourist Park in Stanthorpe.

"We are thinking we will probably be here for a couple of days, until the road to Gympie is open," the AICM Facebook page reported.

Despite the detour, nothing could dampen the spirits of new AICM band, Playback, which achieved runner-up in the CCMA National Talent Quest junior instrumental category.
