Flatmate accused of Amanda's death set to stand trial

A WOMAN who denies she tortured and bashed her Ipswich flatmate to death will face trial on Wednesday.

Rachel Narelle Smith, 41, is accused of murdering Amanda Quirk in the house they shared at Booval before fellow flatmate Christopher James Swan, 39, dumped her body in forest in northern NSW.

Smith, Swan, Quirk and another friend allegedly had been on several trips to Wynnum, in Brisbane's east, in search of the drug speed during March 31, 2010.

It was later that evening she went missing.

Smith and Swan told Ms Quirk's family they had last seen her heading out to a nightclub.

The jury must decide what role Smith played in Ms Quirk's murder.
