First kite festival set to fly high at Rainbow Beach

THE skies over Rainbow Beach will be filled with colourful kites on Sunday, August 18.

In a first for the region the Lion's Club of Rainbow Beach and sponsors have joined forces to launch the first annual Rainbow Beach Kite Festival.

Organisers are trying to emulate the Coolum Kite Festival (pictured) and will hold a market in Laurie Hanson Park with the Kite Festival flowing along Rainbow Beach towards Inskip Point for a kilometre.

Kites ranging from a 2m ground-based lady bird, a Nemo and high wire kites will be on show.

The community is urged to come along and enjoy a fantastic, fun-filled, family day out at Rainbow.

Anyone interested in booking a market site for the event or who wish to volunteer on the day can contact Debbie on 0438 868 123.
