Firies bet flag on 8th Origin

QUEENSLAND'S seventh State of Origin series win and the worn state of the old Queensland flag flying at the Gympie fire station prompted an upgrade to a new one this week.

Gympie Fire and Rescue officers' request for a new flag was honoured by Member for Gympie, David Gibson, who presented the State flag to the station with hope it would still be flying in another seven years.

Just to rub salt in the wounds of their NSW counterparts, Gympie firefighters have promised to take down the Queensland flag, fold it up and send it to a fire station over the border if the Maroons fail to win eight Origin series in a row next year.
