Fire gain draw in goal rush

IN A massive grab for points on Saturday the Gympie Fire Under 19 squad have managed to come from nothing to level their game against the Brisbane Strikers.

Team manager Kerri Healy said the boys ended up with a 3-all draw after facing the prospects of being beaten with nothing on the score board and only 15 minutes remaining.

The Fire's Brady Cronk managed to score in the 76th, 88th and 89th minute to even out the score.

Coach Richard Hudson said he boys deserved the result after a run of bad luck.

"The way it happened was a really good performance. The boys stuck to their task," he said.

"They worked hard. Luck had not been with us the past few weeks. They deserved something on the day."

Mr Hudson said goalie Josh Dennis had a "great game", and mentioned vice captain Brady Watt and Brady Cronk's efforts as standouts during the match.
