Fast Ed whips up promotion

BETTER Homes and Gardens' Fast Ed cooked up a storm on the Capricorn Coast last week, bringing further valuable exposure for the tourism industry and offering a much-needed boost to the local economy.

The Better Homes and Gardens team filmed cooking segments from XXXX Island and Keppel Bay Marina to be aired across the country on four shows during the next twelve months.

Capricorn Enterprise chief executive Mary Carroll said the publicity generated by XXXX Island and teams such as the Better Homes and Gardens was priceless.

"The announcement of the launch of the island back in March this year reached 214 million people globally. This is promotion that we simply couldn't buy for the Southern Great Barrier Reef and the Capricorn Coast," Mrs Carroll said.

"If this is the level of marketing we gain from XXXX Island, can you imagine what having a carbon-positive eco resort on Great Keppel Island would do for our area?" Mrs Carroll said.

"We were fortunate to live in such a great area and it was important we supported promotion of the region to encourage a greater level of visitors and investors to the area.

"We need hooks such as XXXX Island, GKI and our beautiful National Parks areas to encourage people to visit and invest in the area," Mrs Carroll said.

"Capricorn Enterprise works together with local operators such as Libby and Richard Wilson from Keppel Bay Marina to promote our region and encourage people to want to enjoy the wonders that the Southern Barrier Reef and the Capricorn Coast have to offer.

Mrs Carroll said the region's tourism industry was a vital link in boosting the local economy and creating jobs in the region.

"The visit by Better Homes and Gardens which was followed up with a visit from Gateway last weekend are a fabulous boost for the region, and are a good example of a great partnership between by Tourism Queensland, Capricorn Enterprise and Coastal Operators working collaboratively to promote the region," she said.
