Faingaa brothers prepare to help Reds smash the Blues

QUEENSLAND centre Anthony Faingaa will have to braid his twin brother Saia's hair a bit quicker after both were named in the starting line-up for the round 11 showdown against the Auckland Blues at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.

Saia, the dreadlocked hooker, and the older of the pair by five minutes, will be making his first start since the round five loss against the Force. He also missed two games with a neck injury.

The braiding of Saia's hair is a pre-match ritual Anthony performs before each game they play for the Reds.

But it won't only be Saia thrust into battle from the first minute as the fourth-placed Queenslanders chase a historic win against the Blues following their victories against the Hurricanes, Highlanders and Chiefs earlier this season.

A win would ensure this line-up will become the first Reds team to complete a cleansweep against Kiwi opposition in a Super Rugby regular season.

Prop Ben Daley, who missed the opening six games due to calf and head injuries, has made three strong cameos from the bench in recent matches against the Highlanders, Chiefs and Brumbies, also gets his first start in the No.1 jersey.

Faingaa and Daley replace James Hanson and Greg Holmes, who move to the bench.

"The Blues are a very talented side and the short six-day turnaround makes things even more complicated for us, so to be able to maintain continuity in our selections is important," Queensland director of coaching Ewen McKenzie said.

"We keep the same 22 players, but are giving Saia and Ben the chance to start and bring something different to our game. They've obviously been frustrated by injuries earlier in the season, so I'm sure they're eager to grab the opportunity they've been given and run with it."
