Ex-Gympie man's house arrest on drug, gun, violence charges
A FORMER Mothar Mountain man has been told he must not leave his Surat home unescorted after being remanded in Gympie Magistrates Court on 40 drug, weapon, violence and driving charges.
The charges include allegations he produced and possessed meth amphetamine, possessed cocaine and possessed a cut down shotgun.
His bail conditions, imposed in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday, include a requirement for $30,000 in sureties to be lodged with the court and a condition that the man, Tyson David White, be confined to a property called Riverview at Surat and not leave except with specified family members.
Mr White, 39, was remanded to appear in Brisbane Supreme Court on the drug matters, Gympie District Court on unrelated assault and stalking charges and Roma Magistrates Court on an unrelated disqualified driving charge.
The Supreme Court charges allege he produced meth amphetamine between August 5, 2017 and January 22 last year, when police also charged him with possession of a shortened brake action shotgun, trafficking in meth amphetamine from November 1, 2017, possessing instructions for making meth amphetamine and possessing meth and cocaine.
He is also accused of meth production between February 16 and March 14 last year and trafficking in cocaine between January 3 and February 2 last year.
In the District Court he faces unrelated charges of assault with bodily harm between November 1 and November 30, 2012, between January 10 and January 31, 2014 and between September 10 and October 14, 2017 and of stalking between September 5, 2017 and February 9, 2018.
His solicitor told the court Mr White was also charged with driving while disqualified between Injune and Surat, but said his wife was with him and she was driving.
Mr Callaghan remanded Mr White to appear back in the Gympie Magistrates Court on December 2, by which time the charges are expected to have been dealt with.
"He was lucky to get bail," Mr Callaghan said, explaining the tough conditions. "He is charged with a breach of bail, but he may have a defence."
