Evan joins the army bandstand

GYMPIE musician Evan Fitzpatrick is shining his euphonium in preparation to join the Australian Army band for their Gympie performance.

The accomplished brass player is currently a member of the Royal Australian Military Band, but has been called up to the bigger Army Band.

“I have played a couple of gigs with them over the last week and really enjoyed it,” Fitzpatrick said.

He is currently in the Army Reserve, but is hoping to get into the army full time next year as a band member.

The very popular Australian Army Band is playing at the annual Music at Midday concert at the Civic Centre on Monday July 19.

Since its formation in 1949, the Australian Army Band-Brisbane (AAB-B) has become known throughout Queensland as one of the finest Military Bands in Australia, enjoying a wide reputation for its musical excellence and impressive military appearance.

The Cooloola Community Arts Council is delighted to be able to present once again this much awaited treat for the Gympie community for the price of a gold coin entry, from 12 noon to 1pm. Proceeds from the day will go to Cooloola Chemo.
