THE European Union will suspend an $880 million fund aimed at helping Colombia uphold the recent peace accord. It acted after voters rejected the deal to end 52 years of conflict with the Marxist FARC group. "Obviously in the current situation we cannot continue with the launch of this fund,” EU President Ivan Korcok told the European Parliament. He said EU engagement in the Colombian peace process would "carry on”. The bloc did not go back on its decision to suspend FARC for six months from its terror list because "FARC did not denounce the peace accord”.
