Former drug addict given probation

A FORMER heroin addict was ordered to complete 15 months of probation when he faced Maroochydore Magistrates Court for dishonesty offences, some dating back to 1998.

Erin Clive Dawson, 37, was tracked down through his fingerprints after smashing his way into a sewing store in Charters Towers 12 years ago. He took $350 cash, $200 worth of scissors and caused more than $200 damage.

Dawson also ransacked a Gympie blinds’ store and assaulted a security officer first on the scene that same year.

In recent years, Mr Dawson stole two surfboards from a woman’s Cotton Tree yard and pawned them for $100.

He was on Tuesday ordered to pay $100 restitution.
