Easterfest has new chilled vibe

FESTIVAL-GOERS will be able to relax at the new chill out zone as part of this year's Easterfest.

As the transformation of Queens Park continues, some big changes will become visible in the lead up to Easter.

The Easterfest team has been busy preparing for the new event that they hope will feel different to previous years.

Over the Easter period, the Village Green will be transformed into a chill out area and feature talented acoustic artists and solo acts.

Festival director David Schnek said the chill out zone would be a place where people could come to relax.

"We really want this venue to be a relaxed space, where people can drink good coffee and listen to great music," said Mr Schenk.

"I really hope Easterfest is a place where friendships are formed, relationships are deepened and where people are loved," he said.

Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman will be performing some of his solo acoustic acts at the Village Green on Saturday at 11pm.

Staff have made hundreds of cushions and volunteers are busy constructing furniture out of pallets, hessian and other recycled materials which people can lounge on while they listen to music.

Marketing manager Joy Argow said the chill out zone would give off a more of an acoustic vibe.

"We wanted to create a space for young adults to come and chill out and meet new people," Ms Argow said.

"It's out of the main hustle and bustle, but it is still in the heart of the festival and we will have some great acts on show," she said.

The chill out zone will be open during festival hours.
